Where should I stay in Dhërmi?

Down on the beach if you came for the clubs and the sea, or up in the old village on the hillside for quiet, views and lower prices. Dhërmi is the loudest and most expensive stretch of the Riviera in high summer — excellent if that is what you want, wearing if it is not.

Where should I stay in Dhërmi? The liveliest stretch of the Albanian Riviera: beach clubs, music, and the highest summer prices on the coast. Old village above, beach below.

Beach or village — they are different holidays

The beachfront is where the clubs, the music and most of the newer accommodation are. In July and August it runs late and prices are the highest on the coast.

The old village sits above on the hillside — stone houses, church, silence, and a view down over the water. It is a genuinely different stay, cheaper and calmer, at the cost of getting up and down the hill.

Getting there

Dhërmi is the first of the famous Riviera beaches you reach coming south over the Llogara pass from Vlorë, which makes the arrival itself part of the appeal — the road drops out of the mountains straight onto the coast.

It is roughly twenty minutes from Himarë and a longer run from Sarandë. A car helps considerably, particularly for getting between the village and the beach.

When to come

This is the one place on the coast where the season is genuinely narrow: the beach clubs define Dhërmi and they run roughly late June through early September. Outside that the beachfront is quiet to the point of being closed.

If you want the beaches without the volume, come in June or the second half of September — the water is the same and the prices are not.

Common questions

Is Dhërmi expensive?
In July and August it has the highest accommodation and beach-club prices on the Albanian Riviera. In June or late September it drops sharply.
Should I stay in Dhërmi village or on the beach?
The beach for nightlife and swimming on your doorstep; the village for quiet, views and value. They are a steep couple of kilometres apart.
Is Dhërmi good for families?
Less so than Himarë or Ksamil in peak season — the beachfront is built around clubs and late music. The old village is a calmer option.
Is Dhërmi open outside summer?
Barely. The beachfront largely shuts outside roughly late June to early September, though the village remains inhabited year-round.
